          Description

          This course focuses on the skills of self-reflection and critically evaluating one's own thoughts, beliefs, assumptions, and emotions as means of creating space for clients and coaching in ways that reflect an open and just approach to coaching. Students will also examine research and engage in dialogue to support and facilitate their development of emotional intelligence, self-awareness, presence, curiosity, and empathy. Students will learn how their personal development work is essential to facilitating client growth. Students will also explore how justice, equity, inclusion, and belonging principles can be applied to mindset work, setting up relationships, and selecting techniques during sessions.

          This course meets on Tuesday evenings from 6:30pm - 9:00pm EST on the following days:

          Attendance is required at all course sessions - sessions will not be recorded to view if absent. (Exceptions may be made for unforeseen emergency situations, but attendance is vital for ICF certification requirements and to support your peers in the cohort.)

          Learning Outcomes

          After completing the learning exercises and activities in this Reflective Coaching course, students will be able to:

          • Identify and name one's own core values and how those values impact how one perceives different situations.
          • Display self-awareness in identifying one's emotions, thoughts, and beliefs in various personal and professional settings.
          • Examine personal strengths, blind spots, assumptions, and implicit biases.
          • Identify and articulate relevant systems, power, privilege, and individual position within larger systems.
          • Identify moments of cognitive and emotional dissonance or discomfort and apply the technique of non-attachment.
          • Articulate humanistic strategies including empathy, curiosity, respect, and dignity while exploring client beliefs and values.
