#### Description

Developed alongside Dr. Troy Boddy, the current president of the East Coast Racial Equity Group, this 20-hour cohort workshop focuses on helping school leaders confront and address the inequities within the school system via courageous conversations about race.

#### Learning Outcomes

 This workshop will help your leaders:

- Analyze where and how institutional racism operates within your schools.
- Develop an action plan designed to help improve equity.
- Create and implement new programs designed to help decrease disproportionality.
- Build alliances between staff and community members that will advance racial equity.

#### Requirements

##### Technology Requirements

Hardware Requirements: This course can be taken on either a PC, Mac, or Chromebook.

Software Requirements: Software must be installed and fully operational before the course begins.

- PC: Windows 8 or later.
- Mac: macOS 10.6 or later.
- Browser: The latest version of Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox are preferred. Microsoft Edge and Safari are also compatible. Cookies and JavaScript must be enabled
- The latest Adobe Reader/Acrobat Reader ( free download available at https://get.adobe.com/reader/ )
- Any modern Office suite: Microsoft Office, Apple iWork, OpenOffice, or LibreOffice

Other:

- Reliable internet connection. Broadband cable or highspeed DSL is recommended for optimal experience.
- E-mail account (to be able to register and to receive e-mail from the course system regarding registration, course status, etc.)

I enjoyed the videos and rich conversation. My biggest challenge prior to this workshop was having some of these conversations with the entire staff instead of one-on-one. It probably was uncomfortable for me so I avoided it. Now, I realize the necessity of having these conversations with the greater group.

My biggest challenge prior to this workshop was overcoming staff members implicit biases and helping them to identify when they are being biases. Through this workshop, I was able to reflect on my own biases as well as others. I also learned through the Iceberg activity some ways that I can be proactive in identifying the negative stereotypes you have about others.
