#### Description

This presentation will examine issues related to race and racism in early childhood education. Dimensions of racism in education will be discussed including cultural racism, institutional racism, individual racism, systemic racism and dysconscious racism. Eurocentrism in the Pre-K-12 curriculum will be examined along with the role of teacher education programs in perpetuating racist teacher practices. Excerpts from the documentary film "Strange Fruit Redux: The Perils of Young Black Boys in Early Childhood Education" will be shown with participants discussing the implications of issues raised in the film for early childhood educators.

Hardware Requirements: This course can be taken on either a PC, Mac, or Chromebook.

Software Requirements: Software must be installed and fully operational before the course begins.

- Browser: The latest version of Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox are preferred. Microsoft Edge and Safari are also compatible. Cookies and JavaScript must be enabled
