          Description

          This course introduces students to the concept of Information Lifecycle Management and how to manage data from the perspective of protecting information as a strategic asset. The course also includes a component on data visualization using Tableau.

          Students will earn a certificate awarding 15 CPE credits to go towards professional development.

          Instructor: Paul Tallon is Professor of Information Systems at the Sellinger School of Business, Loyola University Maryland. Prof. Tallon qualified as a Chartered Accountant with PwC in 1993 and is currently a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland. He studies a variety of topics at the intersection of IT and accounting, notably methods of computing the financial return on IT investments and methods of assessing the value of information.

          Learning Outcomes

          The goal of this course is to familiarize you with the current state of thinking on issues and challenging pertaining to valuing information as a strategic asset and to think about ways that you could monetize that value through greater use of data visualization techniques.
